Our collaborations with local villagers

Products for the better-off of many more

Beneath the sprawling ivy shade and soft sunlight, there sat women weaving away strands of cotton. This little village that smelt of indigo and tree bark dyes is home to Thai Northeastern traditional weavers who encompassed their heritage into textile patterns with each and every working of the loom. Tohsang Cotton Village houses the weaving traditions of the Khongjiam community in Ubon Ratchathani, breathing life into local artisanship and artistry that may have otherwise been forgotten. Set near the bank of the Mekong river, the surrounding soil is fertile enough to cultivate organic cotton farming. Tohsang’s hand picked-cotton are nurtured into bespoke textiles, each with a cultural narrative of their own. With women at the forefront of our collective, Tohsang aims to empower and improve thelives of low-income women weavers who are central to our ecosystem, like how the Mekong is to the grounds of our cotton plantation. Tohsang seeks to continue to amplify the voices of these women through our documentation, design, and creative direction in the making of our textiles.
